Derivative Artwork

This artwork is not just "vintage style," it was created by Baron Jean-Baptiste Bethune and published by Desclée through the Society of Saint Augustine. If this designer is going to profit from the work of other Catholic artists--whether living or passed on--they should educate their patrons and give credit where credit is due by informing people where the source image is from. If one is going to contribute to Catholic visual culture through producing prints--which inevitably end up in other places, such as on social media--they have a moral duty to be honest about the origins of their derivative works. Respect our Catholic artists of the past and inform people when you copy images and change the colors in Photoshop by explicitly citing the original artist. It is dishonest to not do so and implies that you designed the image, when that is most certainly not the case.
